Saras Baug is A beautifully designed garden with a large pond as the central attraction. This ecosystem, which is home to various flora and fauna is getting destroyed at a fast pace though, due to excessive pollution as well as the eutrophication in the pond.
In order to preserve our ecological, historical and cultural heritage, the Kalam Centre undertook a cleanliness and awareness drive.
As we visited Saras Baug on Monday, just after maximum footfalls of the weekend, the garden was overflowing with garbage- plastic bottles, tobacco sachets, condoms, polyethene bags, and a lot of alcohol bottles.
Overall, the Cleanliness Drive was an immense success. We not only cleaned the garden, but also helped spread awareness regarding the perils of environmental degradation and others would surely carry on the message further.
