Social work is something very personal for everyone....it gives one a piece of satisfaction by doing their bit for the society and immense gratification...
By means of Kalam foundation, we, the students of KSJC consider ourselves to be very fortunate to indulge in such noble activities...
The First activity of the Kalam Centre 2019-2020, was to work for a volunteer-based, nonprofit organization, Seva Sahyog. This organization deals with the development and welfare of underprivileged people. On the 18th of October 2019, the members of the Kalam Centre were to gather at the Seva Sahyog Office which is near the Mhatre Bridge, Pune.
We were introduced to the heads of the various teams working for the organization and were also acclimatized to its working. Our job that day was to make Kits for Adolescent girls under the "Kishori Vikas " project. This project was to help the Adolescent girls of the underprivileged sector deal with issues of their age. The 'ABC' Kits were to be made for the same purpose.

The idea of the project was to help young girls to step into Adolescency by helping them understand basic things like the
A- menstrual cycle, its effects, solutions on how to deal with them
B- Importance of one's inner beauty
C- providing guidelines to the young girls for career opportunities which don't wholly depend on merit
Under this project, we, the students of KSJC, made paper bags, a small beaded neckpiece and cardboard sheets telling them about various things to be taken care of during their daily lives and career opportunities. To complete one kit we were split up into 4 groups, each have been assigned certain tasks. In very less time we managed to make a considerable amount of Kits for the girls. After preparing the Kits there was a small demonstration, wherein the students were trying to explain the ABC kits to their fellows.
As the activity came to an end, a thorough discussion was carried out ...everyone expressed their views and gave inputs to improve this program.
Visiting Seva Sahyog was a very enriching and satisfying beginning for our Kalam Centre and we look forward to collaborating and working with Seva Sahyog further on.
